My Service:
I provide compassionate support and mentoring to friends and family in the space of death and dying and actively care for family and friends who were/ and are dying; and also after death in the way of home vigil, body care as well as funeral planning and celebrancy. End-of-Life Doula; non-religious spiritual care; death literacy and education; Threshold Singing.
My own experiences with death (my own and family and friends) led me to investigate doula work in early 2017.
I trained as a doula with Denise Love, completed the basic course, and an advanced course. I have also trained with Helen Callanan (5 days Preparing the Way).
The other significant training I have done during the last 12 months is Clinical Pastoral Education (non-religious spiritual care). I am part way through the second unit of CPE at John Hunter Hospital. It is part of a Masters degree in Chaplaincy.
I host a regular Death Café on a monthly basis. I also co-host a series of conversations at my local cemetery around the topic of death and dying called Rest Assured as part of the Newcastle Compassionate Community.
I am a member of the Threshold Choir (singing by the bedside of the ill and dying) for nearly 2 years and currently have set up the Newcastle chapter.
I would be honoured to walk with you at this time of your life.
